Three days ago, Earth was a rumor, and Lissa was human.

One hundred and fifty years ago, Earth was destroyed, and the remaining humans fled to the dusty red planet of Jutaire, where the only oxygen is manufactured, food is scarce, and death strikes often.

When Lissa's father discovers Earth still exists, she accidentally breathes the toxic air of Jutaire and in one breath, she discovers she isn't quite human.

Her father hangs for his discovery, and Lissa knows the Chancellors will come for her, for she saw the Earth that night too. With nothing to lose, she sets out to expose the truth. It isn't long before she meets Julian, a beautiful boy who can breathe the toxic air like she can - and shows her that the Jute, the original inhabitants of the planet, are more tangled in their lives than she knows.

As mankind races to extinction, Lissa finds out they aren't the only ones in need of Earth, and that the Chancellors are only pawns in a greater game - one where the Jute control everything. Now, Lissa has everything to lose. Earth. Love. The redemption of the human race. And more than anything, her life.

Because the Jute plan to leave Jutaire for Earth, but to get there, they need her. And they'll stop at nothing until Lissa is in their clutches, even if they kill every human in the process.

The race for Earth has begun.

Review: You know, I really felt some many things when reading this book.  This is probably one of the hardest reviews I’ve EVER done!

Unbreathable is original, different, fresh, new, and awesome!  I recommend everyone to give this book a chance!  I guarantee you will fall in love with it!  And if you don’t……there is something wrong with you!  From the moment the action begins you feel a pull that reels you into the story.  From the time you get to know who Lissa is, and the chain of events that follow, you will be brought into a plot that you won’t be able to escape until you reach the end….and even then you want more!  Honestly, it took me I think the first 4 chapters before I REALLY got into the book.  Maybe because by then I knew who Lissa was, and things were falling into place for my understanding.  But that wasn’t a bad thing, it just took me a bit to get into it, which is perfectly normal when it comes to me.  The book jumps right into Lissa trying to steal something she thinks is important, and then we meet beautiful Julian.  From there she starts to explain why she was there and what has happened to her.  That all happened very fast I felt.  But, better fast than slow.  I prefer fast rather than slow, slow just aggravates me.  But it was a bit of confusion for me in the first few chapters.  Again, it also took me the first few chapters before I wasn’t into it.  However, once I was in it…….let’s put it this way…..I was up till 3am!  Once hooked on, I couldn’t get off.  Because I was brought into the plot right away, it was like I’d known these characters for forever!  Like I’d known them for a long time, and here the journey with them really began.  It was awesome!  I know that in some books that just doesn’t work!  But for Unbreathable, it made it amazing!  It didn’t take a whole chapter of explaining who Lissa was, you just knew her.  You understood her.  And I liked that.

The whole fighting-over-Lissa’s-blood-thing-to-get-earth…..Yeah kind of genius.  The whole thing!  It wasn’t at all what I was expecting.  I mean I know the book synopsis basically says exactly that, but the book was not what I thought it was going to be.  Not that that’s a bad thing.  It was AWESOME!  I just had a different idea of the book in my head I suppose.

One of the most important things in this book is the theme.  Yes, a very important theme, in my perspective.  From what I perceived, the theme was Love.  Love of course is always important, but I never use that word lightly.  I don’t think anyone ever should.  Hafsah really did an amazing job at explaining love, and portraying it through this story.  Lissa never received the family love every child should have growing up.  Though, she was blinded by her father she grew up with, who in my perspective led her on to believe she was loved by him, but really wasn’t.  Lissa wants to be wanted.  That is something I personally am familiar with.  So, I knew where Lissa was coming from.  Some people, I think, would believe that wanting to be wanted and loved by someone might be a bad thing.  Makes you a little strange and almost thought to be lustful.  But that is not it all.  People who think that probably never experienced not being loved.  Which is great for that person, but for the rest of us it sucks.  Love is described or interpreted as many different things.  But nobody knows love exactly.  Or will ever be able to truly comprehend it.  But Hafsah is the only person I know even begins to sum it up.  Quotation from the book: “I guess, you would know, in your heart.  You wouldn’t be able to close your eyes without seeing her face, hearing her voice, and imagining her smile.  And you wouldn’t be able to leave her, no matter how much you tried.  When you see her smile and laugh and hear her voice, whispering words just for you, it’ll feel like the world is at your feet.  Like nothing could ever go wrong.”  “I-I guess you wouldn’t need to, if she loved you back, you would both feel it, and that itself will bring you together.” “Love is magic.”

Now, while we are on the subject of love….let’s take a moment to talk about Rowan and Julian.  I expect most people are or will be Julian fans….but I am a Rowan fan!  He is just more my type of guy.  Extremely strong, but inside breaking for a reason no one would ever expect.   He would never admit to you that he is a bit broken inside, unless he really loves you.  Will be there for you, but will make you stronger in your own way.  Again, someone extremely strong.  And anyone who knows me KNOWS I need someone strong.  Someone to put up with all my attitude, bossiness, loudness, wittiness, independantness, etc…….lol!  Whereas, I think Julian is a bit more softer.  He will admit his faults more easily but he still wants to be there for you and will do anything for you.  Making you need him even more.  I can’t wait to see which guy y’all like more!  But personally, I am a Rowan + Lissa fan!  Haha!  :D
